Music Downloading Information

Downloading music can be confusing so I broke this page into three parts: Legal downloading, Other downloading and Scams.

If you are really trying to legally download music or any media, this is the section you need to be in.

LEGAL Downloading:

Amazon MP3 downloading: Amazon is really nice for buying less than 15 songs a month. There, you can buy one song at a time, many for under a dollar. This option is very convenient! The only downfall would be that there is no free trial.


Napster: Napster has been around for a long time. Now that they are charging for the service, the product is more reliable and safe. Here, you can pay less than $15/month to get unlimited downloads Legally. This is the best way to download music in my opinion. You can take advantage of the FREE 7-day trialwhile it lasts. Also Napster has a great Free Service, Free.Napster.comfor if you just want to listen to music but don't need to download. You can listen to any song you want!

Walmart: Download Music only 88 cents per Song! This is another very popular and convenient way of downloading music with out downloading extra software. Obviously they are a reputable source.

Itunes : This is another good way to download music. It is very popular because it is easy to use with ipod's and also cost less than a dollar for each song.

Rhapsody: 14-day Free Trial!
Gives subscribers unlimited access to listen to more than 250,000+ albums, 80,000+ artists and 4,500,000+ songs. However, to use this service, you must use the software provided by Real.


SuperPass: 14-day Free Trial!
Subscribers get to watch and listen to news, sports, film, TV and entertainment content using RealPlayer Plus. SuperPass also offers 3,200 radio stations and 10 free song downloads / month. As with rhapsody this too must be used with real player.

**Some music players require a different format music file than what you download. To fix this you can use a converter. Click here for information.

Other Downloading:

LimeWire: Limewire is a program for peer to peer sharing. You can get it free with ads or for a small fee with no ads. Is it legal?
The software itself is legal!
It becomes illegal when you download copyright information. The songs or movies that you want are probably copyright. I don't think it is worth the risk, with how easy and affordable it is to download legaly. Secure and safe songs are available from the sources above or one of the other companies providing this service.

Torrent Downloading is another way to download music or really anything. Some popular torrent search sites are piratebay.org or isohunt.com. The idea of torrent downloading is great although when you share copyright material this becomes illegal. To use torrent downloads you need 1 free program to connect you with your other peer's. Some of the popular programs out there are utorrent and azaurus. If you use this technique beware of virus' and I would also recommend PeerGuardian2. PeerGuardian2 is a program to keep anti p2p from getting your information (which ultimately get's you in trouble). Also, many of the files you download are going to be compressed with winzip or winrar both have free trials available on those sites. I recommend winrar because it is more compatible with different compression types.


Scams:

Make sure what ever you do you are not downloading from any of these web sites.

Rocket MP3: One of the companies out there claiming
to sell software for sharing mp3's. I have seen many sites around that look very similar to this one. if you look at the demos or screen shots of the software it looks like a copy of the program LimeWire. Look out for sites like this! Do your research before purchasing any software on the internet.

UseNEXT: First off they charged a small fee to verify my information or some crap like that. Then once I am in, I look at a bunch of the content from their service. That's funny, it looks like the same stuff available from torrents or other questionable illegal services that I can already find for free illegally!
